Arekasa Residence

Named for the areca palm, a favorite of the client, Arekasa Residence is a private home near Kedungu Beach designed as a sunlit, breezy retreat for family life and pets. Contemporary tropical planning is layered with Japanese-influenced thresholds and Balinese material references, creating a calm sequence from a genkan-like entrance to the sunken living room, gardens, terraces, and pool.

The two-storey residence is composed of two principal structures and includes an open kitchen and dining room, three bedrooms, an outdoor lounge, service spaces, and a gym set in a box-shaped volume above the garage. Large openings bring natural light and cross-ventilation through the house, while natural stone, reclaimed and recycled timber, textured plaster, glass, and filtered screens connect architecture, interior, and landscape as one composition.
